JOY RIDE
UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA
The giant pill-like object represents the drugs referred to in the song. Its rounded perfect shape and smooth gradients within the reflections communicate the blissful perfect nature the subjects of the song experience while high. The ground comprised of many sharp objects is the pain felt by the subjects on the comedown, like the anxieties expressed in the line “Did you hear that sound? Mayday.”
Students were asked to choose and research a music artist, and then create key art based on the mood and lyrics from one selected song. This key art was then developed into a visual system for use on a variety of deliverables for a live concert event.
